Show Training
If you want to go to a Dog Show with your Heidewachtel (Small Munsterlander Pointer), is it advisable to take your dog to show training. There can you learn, the best way to bring up your dog and what the judge will expect of you and your dog. It is important that your dog will behave when he is in the ring and that he will stand still when the judge is examining him.
The judge will look at the teeth of your dog and how your dog is build. The judge will ask you to walk a square and in a straight line, so he or she can watch the dog from all the sides.
It is important that you let your dog walk beside you as nice as possible (float). It's not good to pull your dog up by the leash or let your dog pull you around the ring, because this will prevent the judge from getting a good look at your dog. Let the dog walk as free and cheerful as possible, so he is shown to his full advantage.
If you go with your dog to show training, the trainer will pay attention to these elements and even the small details. He or she will learn what is the perfect tempo to walk with your dog in the ring and how you can present him in the best possible way.
